Girl Frenzy Tribute Cover!

At the end of last year I learned about a Zine called Girl Frenzy. It’s creator Erica Smith was talking at Laydeez do Comics. One of the covers just sucked me right in, I just loved the design. I was worried because the idea came over me that I had to have a copy of that Zine, and I was almost certain it’d be impossible to get… Luckily for me Erica is awesome, and agreed to swap for some of my Comix and Zines! Later that night I thought it’d be cool to do a version of the same cover, and yesterday I had a go! So, here it is!  Here is an interview with Erica if you’re interested and here is a link to Laydeez do Comics, which is an exellent comics reading group, which is not just for Laydeez!

Love all round, jimi x

Winter’s Light

  Winter’s light

We gather on these cold dark nights

to celebrate the winter’s light

the light we share through all our arts

will surely warm the coldest hearts

and there need be no ancient reason

to share our love in this dark season

no figurehead to lead us on

to encourage us to have some fun

to dance and laugh and love and sing

no dogma needs to force these things

no money, gift, product or token

has worth like loving words when spoken

and as you near the daylight’s end

cherish the smile on the lips of a friend

then when the frosty eve draws in

enjoy the warmth that friendship brings

if you find yourself lost in the middle of winter

be straight and true and always remember

that every season has it’s end

so there’s no need to your senses forfend

from the cruel cold winters’ bitterness

entrust yourself to love’s prowess

and take as your guide this the winter’s light

travelling through the winter’s night

Waiting for April

 Waiting for April

I can’t keep waiting for April

after all she’s just a month of the year

But I remember the cool kisses of your morning

and how you warmed me in the evening as the sun went down

I still taste the many berries of your being

And when I close my eyes smell cherry of your blossoming

I can’t keep waiting for April

after all it’s just a month in the year

I remember those long days and how they spurred me on

the fruitful times, oh how we thought that they would never end

light-hearted living as our troubles seemed to drift away

on the warm breeze which carried poetry and prompted song

But I can’t keep waiting for April

after all it’s just a month in a year

There is no muse

and I am certain

there’s no angel

that is bound to you

and lives in you my April

I can’t keep lamenting this winter

after all it’s another part of the year

So, I’ll keep active in attempting to achieve my goals

though days are short – let us use them while we have our strength

The biting cold may drive us harder than we’ve ever moved

And so we’re learning of capabilities we never knew

I shall not lament this winter

it’s just as important a part of the year

It’s all within us to accomplish our ambition

whether nights or days are long it really has no bearing here

So in morning rise and let us act upon desire

and we’ll be happy in the winter when the sun goes down

I won’t keep waiting for April

after all what is a month in a year?

Leaner Physically and so too in Character

Leaner Physically and so too in Character

In winter, when the leaves

have fallen from the trees

in the wood

I see farther

and more clearly

so during periods

of melancholy in my life

I shed my burdens

like a laden ship

drops it’s cargo

to escape an enemy

or outrun

a coming storm

I achieve more

and move farther

in comprehending

what I am

But

everything in nature

is balanced

and these times

are lonely

indeed

the wood seems

still and empty

the animals

gone to ground

the birds

flown away

the nights longer

and days darker

with the shadow

cast by cloud

obscuring much

So, when the clouds part

for but a brief moment

the sun shines through

and I see an enduring rose

I know that I have no squabble

with the winter

or with this life

I’m leaner physically

and so too in character

learning who I am

Un hommage a Johnny Ryan!

I first came across the word “blumpkin” in a johnny ryan strip, so I knew it must be a bit risque to say the least, anyway, it was a funny word, so I used it a lot; it made me chuckle! Anyway I did find out what it meant, and it’ pretty sick, so if you’re planning to search for it then be aware! Anyway, it’s still a funny word, and this strip is my homage to mr ryan. Hope you like it! jimi x
